AUCKLAND INTERNATIONAL BUSKERS FESTIVAL BACK WITH A BANG: JAW-DROPPING 2023 PROGRAMME JUST ANNOUNCED

Auckland International Buskers Festival 2023

Tāmaki Makarau will delight once more in mind-boggling and audacious performances, as the 23rd annual Auckland International Buskers Festival makes its return with a programme brimming with street artists from across the globe, from 27 - 30 January 2023 during Auckland Anniversary Weekend.

Over four days, the festival will showcase an unmissable and impressive line-up of the very best of international street theatre on Auckland’s city streets. Performances start from 12PM daily across 4 pitches, with special Night Shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at Market Square, Viaduct Harbour from 7.30PM, with a non-stop rollercoaster of entertainment and hilarity of all the festival acts in one show.

The 9 spectacular street performers from around the world taking to the streets to wow audiences, are:

  • Chinnen (Japan) – A mix of juggling, dangerous rola bola balancing and fire, Chinnen uses a mixture of Japanese and Western styles to showcase his amazing skills.

  • The Secret Circus (USA) – Her Majesty’s Secret Circus from duo Brent and Maya McCoy is a spy comedy show, complete with highly unique plunger archery, and ridiculous action stunts.

  • Burns the Dragon (Canada) – Vancouver’s Josh Burns is part man, part dragon, and all wonder. Sharing his love for sideshow and stunt performance, this fire-breathing dragon will show you his treasure chest of tricks.

  • Anna Krazy (Australia) – A contemporary street show that involves acrobatics, dance, contortion, visual theatre elements and power of word. It involves the audience in a unique way, captures their attention and leaves them wondering where all the time suddenly went.

  • The Charming Jay (South Korea) Blending classical stage magic with supreme elegance, pizazz and true showmanship, Charming Jay is a gentle magician with exceptional skills.

  • Davide Fontana (Italy) – All the way from Italy, David Fontana presents a vaguely creepy visual comedy show like no other with mime, improv and plenty of audience involvement.

  • Bboy illwill (USA) – A mixture of dance, comedy, and acrobatics all wrapped up in a one man show. Much more than just a break-dancer, Will has been making people laugh, entertaining, and inspiring the next generation for 17 years.

  • Satya Hoops (Australia) – A master of manipulation, Satya brings her high-skilled, non-stop energetic, interactive hula-hooping show which has wowed audiences in over 42 countries from Beirut to Goa.
