BACH MUSICA NZ TO PRESENT A WORLD PREMIERE & TWO CLASSICS
Audiences will be treated to a rousing performance of Durufle’s Requiem, a world premiere of Tolnay’s Symphony 2019, and Piazzola’s Adios Nonino & Escolaso by the sublime Bach Musica NZ on 18 September at the Auckland Town Hall.
Adiós Nonino and Escolaso by Argentine tango composer Astor Piazzolla will open the night, featuring solo accordionist Stephanie Poole alongside the orchestra. Audiences will then be treated to the world premiere of Symphony 2019 by Nelson based Hungarian-New Zealand jazz pianist and composer Gabor Tolnay.
After the interval, New Zealand’s only combined orchestra and choir, led by conductor Rita Paczian, will present Durufle’s moving Requiem, which is regarded as one of the outstanding choral works of the 20th century, featuring two vocal soloists Elisha Hulton (Mezzo Soprano) and Robert Tucker (Baritone), chorus and full symphony orchestra.
On 29 October at Somervell Church, Bach Musica NZ will hold their second Singing Workshop featuring Schubert’s Mass in Major, which will give singers and enthusiasts a chance to brush up on essential singing techniques and the exciting opportunity to sing alongside members of the acclaimed chorus of Bach Musica.
