Tim Bray Theatre Company is thrilled to announce the return of their beloved end of year production The Santa Claus Show '23, a theatrical experience to ring in the festive season. This hugely popular family favourite is back for its 19th season from 2 – 22 December at The PumpHouse Theatre, Takapuna.

Written in 1991 and now New Zealand’s best-selling Christmas show, this unmissable experience tells a merry tale about finding the true meaning of Christmas, with special guest appearances from Santa’s chief elf and Mr Claus himself.

Join Kelly and Alana on their epic adventure dashing through the snow to the North Pole, with singing and laughing all the way. Bring your little elves along (and big ones too) and get ready for a jolly entertaining Christmas show!

Since its first performance more than 30 years ago tens of thousands of children across Tāmaki Makaurau have experienced this production’s delightful blend of storytelling, music, and Christmas magic and had their imaginations ignited. “It’s always a thrill to return to this show as it brings such joy to the children and adults who come along. I’m especially touched by the many audience members who come each year as part of their Christmas tradition.” says Tim Bray, QSM (Playwright, Director).

This jolly cast of characters is performed by Christian George, Rebecca AnsellAwatea TimothyDylan Underwood all returning after performing in the production in 2022, alongside Erin O’Flaherty (The Whale Rider), Jaeden Lawrie (The Magic Faraway Tree) and Matilda Chua (The Twits). Sharing the stage with Santa and friends will be a cast of talented young students from the company’s Youth Theatre to round out this merry production, including first time actor Parker Hawkes. Parker is the son of Tim Bray’s niece Alana Hawkes, for whom Tim Bray named one of the show’s main characters after, more than 30 years ago.

“This is a hugely enjoyable, well-acted and produced show, guaranteed to get you in the mood for Christmas.” Jodi Yeats, Stuff

Tim Bray Theatre Company's commitment to presenting high quality children’s theatre continues with accessibility and inclusion at the forefront of the company’s programming. The Santa Claus Show ‘23 will include Sensory Relaxed, NZSL interpreted and Audio Described performances so that all children can have a sprinkle of Christmas magic.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to celebrate the holiday season with Tim Bray Theatre Company and be a part of one of Auckland’s cherished annual holiday traditions.

“The Santa Claus Show and Tim Bray are the gifts that keep on giving. What Tim Bray is to Children’s Theatre, the All Blacks are to Rugby: one of New Zealand’s national treasures.” – Patrick Kelly, Theatreview
