KURA FORRESTER HOSTS TWO NIGHTS OF FRESH COMEDY TALENT FOR THE COMEDY MIXTAPE

The New Zealand Comedy Trust presents
THE COMEDY MIXTAPE
Hosted by Kura Forrester

The Comedy Mixtape, South Auckland’s unmissable showcase of blazing hot comedic talent from across Aotearoa, returns for two must-see nights on 26 & 27 May at Māngere Arts Centre as part of the NZ International Comedy Festival with Best Foods Mayo.

This year’s stand out stand up line-up is curated in collaboration with and MC'd by the iconic Kura Forrester. The 2019 Billy T Award winner has become a household name for her role on Shortland Street, and now she’s back on stage to present two nights of sensationally funny local talent. Both nights will be headlined by comedy rebel and South Auckland princess Bubbah, well known for her iconic appearance as ‘Tina from Turners’.

The Comedy Mixtape will see a different line-up each night hitting the Māngere stage, featuring bite sized tasters of household names and some of the freshest comedians on the block.

For Friday night laughs Kura and Bubbah are joined by host of Whakaata Māori’s Rags 2 Riches Courtney Dawson, NZ Comedy Guild Best Newcomer nominee Bailey Poching and after taking time off to be a mum Brooke West returns to performing since her last appearance in 2019 while eight months pregnant. Joining them is the self proclaimed ‘most known, unknown comedian in the country’ Opeti Vaka, 2022 Raw Comedy Quest finalist Summer Xia, and writer on 7 Days and Have You Been Paying Attention? Joel McCarthy.

To laugh Saturday night away, audiences will be able to catch 2019 Raw Comedy Quest finalist Heta Dawson, 2022 Raw Comedy Quest winner Kura Turuwhenua, and podcast host and RNZ The Panel regular Ed Amon. Also on the Saturday line-up is Keegan Govind as seen on The Edge’s Quit Your Day Job and star of Instagram series #crowdtwerk, 2022 Auckland Fringe winner Jess Karamjeet and actor and exciting comedy newcomer Celeste De-Freitas.
