NEWCOMERS AND ICONS BRINGING MASSIVE COMEDY TALENT TO KERIKERI

Saturday Laughs is returning to Kerikeri with another smash-hit two hour comedy showcase. On Saturday 4th of February Kerikeri’s Turner Centre will get to enjoy some of the immense comedic talent Aotearoa has to offer.

MCing the evening is the always wonderful Justine Smith. Justine has been touring around the country for over twenty years. On our screens she’s been on Taskmaster, The Project, and 7 Days. The audience in Kerikeri will be in good hands with Justine as MC, having won The NZ Comedy Guild Award for Best MC in 2015 and in 2016.

Headlining the evening is the iconic Tom Sainsbury. Tom’s been around the block a few times, he’s an Actor/MC/Comedian/Influencer/Creator/Host - and so much more! Active in the industry for many years, he exploded onto the mainstream media stage in 2017 after using short form video content to satirise New Zealand politicians during the 2017 election - panini anyone? He continues to work extensively in this area, parodying New Zealanders from all walks of life in short clips released almost daily on Instagram and Facebook. Tom is also very active in the local film and television space, appearing in many local hits including series Shortland Street, Wellington Paranormal, as well as feature films Guns Akimbo, and The Breaker Upperers.

Alongside Justine and Tom in this wonderful lineup is well loved Kiwi comic on the touring circuit, Nick Rado. A multi-award winning writer, MC and clean stand-up comedian. He is the five-time winner of the NZ Comedy Guild Award for Best Comedy MC, so Justine has great backup in the unlikely event she might need it. Nick also won Best Male Comedian at the NZ Comedy Guild Awards in 2019 and more recently performed at a sold-out Sydney Opera House for the prestigious Just for Laughs Sydneyshowcase for The Comedy Channel on Foxtel, Australia. Staying ahead of the technology game Nick has also gained popularity with his sports and philosophy podcasts, The Sporting Rumble, and Socrates Walks into a Bar.

Joining the line-up is breakout comedian Kura Turuwhenua, a rising star in the Aotearoa comedy circuit. Winner of the Raw Comedy Quest in 2021, Kura has been on the up since getting to perform in Pax Assadi’s The Comedy Mixtape in 2022. Rounding out this evening of classic kiwi comedy is up and coming performer, Orin Ruaine-Prattley who’s already proved he’s got what it takes by winning the Wellington Raw Comedy Quest in 2021.
