DAI HENWOOD BACK IN THE CAPITAL FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY

DAI HENWOOD

DAI HARD
with JUSTINE SMITH and SAMANTHA HANNAH

Dai Henwood announces one night only home coming show at the Wellington Opera House on November 30.

It’s been eight years since Dai performed for an hour in Wellington, and this time he’s brough a couple of pals to make a huge night of it. One and a half hours at 7.30pm on a Thursday! This is the ideal scenario to book the babysitter, grab a meal, see a show and be home by 10.

With $5 from every ticket going to the Cancer Society, you’ll be helping us raise money and awareness for their much-needed work. Dai’s own journey through cancer diagnosis and treatment have meant he has taken stock of what’s important and reminded him of the joy he gets performing live.

“It’s been a wild ride these last few years, and it’s something myself and my family are dealing with every day, but there is a special light and joy that comes from doing stand up and I can’t wait to do it back in my hometown” – Dai Henwood

His comedy CV is second to none, The Billy T Award, The Fred Award (twice), along with all of his work on our screens over the years; 7Days, TaskmasterNZ, Lego Masters, Dancing With The Stars, NZ Music Awards, The Comedy Gala, AotearoHA, dot dot dot. But his true love has always been live stand up.

Dai’s stage presence is huge, and he has been delivering it to audiences around the motu and the globe for over 25 years. Starting out in Wellington, he has regularly toured and performed at festivals from Montreal to Edinburgh, this is a culmination of all that hard mahi.

Joined by his best buddy, Justine Smith; 7Days, The Project, The Comedy Gala, Taskmaster NZ, and local stand out stand-up comic Samantha Hannah, this is a well-rounded and exciting night of comedy for everyone. Forget your troubles for an evening, and drink in those laughter endorphins.

The Opera House is the perfect venue for Dai’s return, growing up in and around theatres in Te Whanganui-a-tara, it’s fitting that he should come back with this glorious backdrop. With him will be a filming crew, capturing the evening, and some luck audience members might just get their laughing faces captured as part of the night.

This is wholesome, feel good comedy that will have you beaming on the way home. The perfect night out, that will ease you into the first weekend of summer. That’s Dai, he’s summer time jandals, hokey pokey ice cream, and days in the sunshine.
