In partnership with The FAME Trust (Fund for Acting and Musical Endeavours) and the Acorn Foundation, PANNZ (Performing Arts Network of New Zealand) is honoured to launch a significant new prize for Aotearoa’s exceptional live performance artists - The FAME Mid-Career Awards. The awards will be launched on Monday 28 February at the 2022 PANNZ Arts Market with a presentation for the inaugural recipient - renowned dancer and performer Rodney Bell (​​Ngāti Maniapoto.)

PERFORMANCE ARTIST PIVOTS TO DELIVER INDIVIDUALISED EXPERIENCE

In response to Aotearoa New Zealand’s move to the Red Alert Level, award-winning performance artist, Alexa Wilson has transformed Rituals of Destruction into an interactive online performance piece which will be available from March 9th to April 9th. In this bold move, Alexa will create a bespoke digital film that will be distributed to individual viewers. This loss of live performance has metamorphosed into an entirely new artwork as the destruction of one work has given birth to the creation of a new one.

THE VENUES MAY BE SMALL BUT THE COMEDY IS MASSIVE

AUCKLAND LIVE AND HAWAIKI TŪ CANCEL TAURITE

Due to Aotearoa New Zealand's shift to the red setting of the Covid Protection Framework, Auckland Live and Hawaiki TŪ regret to announce that the season of Taurite is cancelled. The season had been scheduled for 16-17 February at the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre. Taurite's performance at the Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts, scheduled for 3 March, has also been cancelled.

Max Patté has enjoyed a career that has crossed hemispheres and spanned 20 years as one of Aotearoa’s most celebrated contemporary artists, and now he is ready to start a new chapter. Patté is saying “haere rā” to the Land of the Long White Cloud with his sights on Sydney, where he has opened a new gallery, and then a relocation to Mallorca, Spain. Patté’s Wellington-based studio will close its doors on 31 March.
