FINAL TEAMS ANNOUNCED IN THE GREAT COMEDY DEBATE

New Zealand Comedy Trust and Lane Neave present
THE GREAT COMEDY DEBATE

Six of the country’s best comedians are getting ready for a spirited night of hearty debate at The Great Comedy Debate presented by national law firm, Lane Neave! Coming to Tāmaki Makaurau for one night only 17 August at Rangatira, Q Theatre.

Joining the already-announced all star line-up of comedians who are putting their wits, smarts and hearts on the line is Josh Thomson, a recently announced contestant on Taskmaster Season 3 and regularly seen on The Project and 7 Days, alongside comedian and writer Lana Walters, seen on 7 Days and Laughs Unleashed.

Two teams of comedians will battle it out in a night of hot takes, zingers and plenty of laughs. Making up the Affirmative Team, arguing that yes ‘Love Will Save Us’ is David Correos, Lana Walters and Team Captain Dai Henwood, who says, “Love… The answer to every question except ‘how much soil do I need for my garden bed.’ Love is how we save this world, through compassion, hugs and letting the good vibes flow. I was born to debate this topic and can’t wait to join some of the best minds in the business to convince the world that love will indeed save us".

Going head-to-head against them on the Negative Team, arguing that love isn’t going to save us, is Team Captain Hayley Sproull with Angella Dravid and Josh Thomson. “At high school, I missed out on debating because I was too busy applying eyeliner and kissing skinny boys. So to be able to do it now feels like I'm making up for lost time. I can't wait to annihilate the other team who foolishly think love will save us. What absolute fools. And my team will publicly and ruthlessly school them on why they are so very wrong.” says Team Captain, Hayley Sproull.

Keeping the boisterous comedians in line is The Project’s Kanoa Lloyd as moderator. At the end of the night, it will be up to the audience to decide which team has made the most convincing case and who will take home the ultimate prize of bragging rights.

The Great Comedy Debate is presented by the New Zealand Comedy Trust and national law firm Lane Neave, all filmed for THREE for audiences around the motu.
